Thank you Full Sail!

So about a good two weeks ago my macbook decided to stop displaying any images to me, idk what i did to anger it but it could turn on and off and make the sounds of the changing volume yet only a black screen remained. So i finally was able to go in yesterday for my 3:20p appointment with a genius. After a little while we decide that the lodging board had most likely tired out and died, supposedly that’s where the semi-important chips are placed like the CPU! So replacing this would cost me around a genius estimated 1,000$. However, when buying our MacBook Pros at the beginning of school Full Sail had us purchase the Extended Warranty in which saved my butt this time around. The regular warranty would have expired by this point and I would have to scrub up an extra grand or so to get this thing i use everyday fixed!

“One Fish, Two Fish, Dead Fish, Blue Fish”

Let’s just ignore the fact that it has been ages since last posting ;)

So we have just finish shooting our first FILM project, which was a BLAST!! We shot on Super 16mm film (single perf), using the Arriflex SRIII. The story was actually written by one of my roommates (Mathew Schramm) and depicted the story of every unfortunate accident a person could experience during the care taking of a fish. I was lucky enough to be a part of the camera department, in which we switched throughout all of the department positions (Cam op, 1st AC, 2nd AC, Cable/Utility). Overall, we had a great time through the entire project from pre-pro and construction of the set to the week of pre-light, blocking, and production days.

Been a While

So it has been a long while since the last post, and felt things needed to be put up before the spring break coming up next week!

Since the last post i have completed my lighting, public speaking, sound for film, storytelling classes, and am now about to start the second months of Digital Cinematography and Directing. We are now in the pre-productions of our Digital Cinematography’s “Twilight Zone” rewrites and Commercials, which we will be shooting the beginning of April.

I have been helping with a few outside projects outside of class with UCF Students and Full Sail Graduates including:

-”Erik Blackman” (Grip/PA)
-”Good Men” (Grip/PA)
-”Innemy” (Asst. Camera)
-”Self Disposable” (Director- Bluestone Films first production)

We plan on producing 2 more short films with Bluestone Films in the next 5-6 months.
So although i’ve enjoyed staying busy with the productions im looking forward to heading out back to Texas after this weeks production for a few weeks!

Thanks for checking up on me,

School, school, school

Just got back from my 1-5am lab a little while ago and decided to keep everyone up to date with classes. We are in the second and last month of lighting, and now starting the one month public speaking class. Although we have only been in lighting for 5 weeks now we have gained an abundance of information ranging from color temperature to high/low contrast scenes to the complex rigging. I was asked several times when going home if Full Sail was everything I thought it to be, and I could only respond that I didn’t know there was this much to learn… but I absolutely love it! I’ve realized few people realize the amount of work and time that goes into the lighting of films, and challenge readers to try and pay attention to this next time your watching a flick.

Attached is a critique required from us for public speaking over the musical “The Producers”. “Love It”, “Hate It”, “Agree”, “Disagree” let me know :)

New Month!

Well, today was the day of a NEW month! woohoo! This month consists of an intro to Lighting class (12 hour day today) and College Mathematics (starts tom). Things are starting to gear even more around film this upcoming month, which you would think should be exciting for anyone going into the industry. Unfortunately, we are finding out the people who do not feel the same way and will not be the group of people desired to work with. They threw alot of information out today, but considering the several hundred technical terms we will obtain it’s only for the better! Well, i’m about to head to bed to rest up for my 9 a’clock but I hope everyone is having a great week!

Cisco:Past Youtube:Present

So we just received notice a few days ago (on Full Sail’s Propeller site) the finalists for the Cisco commercial my team participated in and…we were not included on the list. Although we had our share of disappointment, like all great teams we moved on to bigger and better things. We are now working on a script written and directed by yours truly in hopes to tackle YouTube’s Project Direct. The rules require your main character to undergo a situation which extends beyond their maturity level, have a passing of a photograph and finally use the dialogue “I demand an explanation for these shenanigans! What do you have to say?”. One of the several awards for the fesitval is a paid for trip to an international film festival (which some believe to be Sundance) for a 9-10 day stay. Jason Reitman (director of “Thank You For Smoking” and “Juno”) and others will trim down to the top 20 films which will then be taken to the public for voting! I hope if this point of the contest is achieved we will have everyone’s support in the public voting stages! Thanks you for your time, and stay alert for new updates on the contest!

“For the Love of Water”

Yesterday was a long productive day filming a silent short written by a friend, Chace Keller. The short is a slice of life film following several days of a kid who has a passion for water. It was a fun project as you would imagine when you get to load around numerous water bottles for our lead talent TJ who eventually replaces his love for water with one of the female gender :) We definately enjoyed production, and will let you know when post-production is done along with the URL if it is posted somewhere!

Have a great week!
